1. Enter The Site Information

In the WordPress control panel, go to Settings> General and select Website Title and Slogan. The website name and a slogan may be entered here. Many websites utilize the slogan area to display a corporate motto.

  • Time zone: Scroll down to change the date and time format you want to use on the website and the time zone in which it operates while still in the General section.
  • Profile: WordPress themes include profiles, and if you’re blogging, your profile may be displayed with uploaded articles. This little section should be completed as soon as possible.

From the dashboard, go to Users> Personal Profile. You may enter your user name, contact information, a brief biography, and a profile photograph here.

2. Delete Unwanted Content

Deleting article and page examples

The Hello World blog post is one of the Dashboard articles. You may remove unwanted posts by going to Articles > All Articles and selecting Garbage. To delete undesirable pages, go to Pages > All Pages, then choose garage.

Deleting default themes

Default themes are included with the WordPress installation by default. While you’re already getting rid of unneeded stuff, it’s also possible to remove other undesirable themes from your navigation to save room.

To remove a theme from your dashboard, go to Layout > Themes and click the Delete button in the lower right corner of the undesirable theme.

3. Choose A WordPress Theme

The look and feel of your website is decided by the WordPress theme, which might be free or paid. The WordPress thematic directory offers free or premium themes.

While taste and budget should guide your selection, paid themes provide more customization choices, faster updates, more attentive support, and simpler usage.

The last but not least, it’s vital to note that each theme is written and functions differently, so double-check the support documentation when you modify the theme or verify the module compatibility.

4. Install Plugins

Plugins are beneficial since they extend the capabilities of WordPress sites and are required for most websites. This is because WordPress comes fully-equipped with everything needed to run a website, so additional site features such as a product list, two-factor authentication, payment processing, and more must be added using plugins.

5. Securing The Site

The most difficult aspect of maintaining a secure website is to follow good security practices. Strong passwords, a hidden administrator address, and keeping your site up to date are all required.

WordPress security plugins are also available to provide further security for your site by adding extra features like two-factor authentication password protection.

Two-factor authentication requires a second user-specific code that must be entered during authentication to generate strong passwords.

To demonstrate that your website is secure for users, you’ll want to install an SSL certificate. An SSL certificate protects registered users from external attempts to steal their data.

6. Link Your Site To Google Analytics

Creating and maintaining a website is one thing, but ensuring that it performs well and continues to do so is quite another.

Link your site to Google Analytics to track website statistics and develop smarter strategies for it.

You can use this data to study traffic, user behavior, and other crucial information in order to better comprehend your target audience. Because virtually all successful businesses rely on operational data to influence managerial decisions, you don’t have time to neglect your own data.

7. Create A Backup

You’ve already completed the preliminary work, and you’re almost ready to go live with the website. However, it’s a good idea to make a backup reserve before proceeding. This last task may appear to be simple, but it has the potential to become critical.

Imagine that you’ve built a successful and famous website after putting in all your effort. Someone, however, manages to break it, and everything you’ve done is destroyed.

You can restore a website backup. However, keep in mind that WordPress does not include a backup mechanism, so you’ll need to manually back it up.
